Sit with your eyes closed, just for a minute. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Listen....what is the loudest sound you hear? What is the softest? While meditating with my student, we could hear a garbage truck, the neighbors yelling, and the slamming of car doors. Softly, we heard the din of a cricket as if it were communicating a message. If we weren't listening, would we have heard? Today, listen for that piece of heaven, perhaps in a phone conversation, an interaction with a coworker, or in your yard. Grab the tether. It's there, throwing us a line of kindness, love, and connection.
